The Gulf of Mexico is great for swimming. On our part of the beach the water was not very deep and we could look through the greenish-blue water for starfish and sand dollars. The resort offered excursions with jet skis, although my mother and I were too afraid to go out into open water never having been on a jet ski before.
Pink Shell was a great resort. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and everything was always very neat and clean. There were three pools: a large, main pool; a small, children's pool; and a quiet, kidney-shaped pool.

The resort had two restaurants. One was an actual sit-down restaurant that offered a variety of different meals, ranging from grilled cheese to lobster tail. The other restaurant was a snack-shack by the pool. Their menu consisted of finger foods and frothy drinks. I always ordered a virgin Pina Colada.
The rooms were lovely. The bathroom had a selection of complimentary spa materials. The two queen-sized beds had memory foam mattresses, and the pillows were fluffy and comfortable. The balcony was screened in, so we could leave the sliding glass door open to let in the warm Gulf air without getting bugs or birds in our room.
Ft. Myers also offered much to do. Just down the street from the Pink Shell is a pier with shops. Many people were fishing there. Elegant seafood restaurants are all over the place, as well as the traditional Waffle House.

The Pink Shell is a great, family-oriented resort. Kids will enjoy the planned activites, parents will enjoy the relaxation, and everyone will enjoy the location.
